A bargain isn't always a bargain

I had a very excited phone call from a chap who had just bought a second hand humax HD box the other night.
Iam not a fan a fan of used satellite equipment,simply because of the problem of not knowing whether or not the previous owner unplugged the reciever before unscrewing the  connectors for the satellite dish.
Well the poor chap is left with a non functioning  box and  a sum of money  absent from his wallet.
Motto always  see the box working before you buy it, and make sure,that mains plug is whipped out  before unscrewing  the satellite dish connections.

Aerial upgrades,when you don't need one one.

You don't always need a new aerial when thinking of buying  your new television with a built in freeview tuner.
The idea of plug and play is not unacceptable but it can often work if your tv aerial isn't hanging off the roof.

Well at last the snow is disappearing at least in yorkshire

After the snow things see to be getting back to normal,or at least we have a thaw under way.
The snow as done a lot of damage to quite a few aerial systems.Aerials don't like been encased in ice it opens connection boxes and lets water when the thaw finally comes.

Freeview and pesky Trees.

Trees great works of nature but for a freeview signal coming through their branches its a little tricky.
Well if your aerial with good old analogue looks through them its very easily lived with,but if the wind blows with digital you will be hiring a chainsaw to remove the problem.
Whats the solution,freesat plain and simple,or if you have no line of sight to the required satellite then cable is your only real option

Snow and TV pictures

Snow lovely Snow,it feels today like the snow we used have back in the good old seventies.
But from a tv watching point of view it aint so good.
Snow loves tv aerials,totally messing up the reception abilities of it.So if you are experiencing snowy!!!!!!!!!
pictures or digital picture break up then dive outside and give your aerial look at,it will very likely resemble an ice sculpture!!!!!!!!!!!

BBC HD and the pleasures of tv watching
