The Antiques roadshow.

The antiques Road show isn't a programme I would normally sit down with an intention of watching it all the way through.
A quick visit to a friends house who as a rather nice 55 inch set with freesat HD installed by me,found the family watching the antiques roadshow
Sitting down I realised it was in HD,the full high quality BBC HD not the lesser ones coming down the cable system in the road.it was giving me a whole new perspective on digging bits and bobs out of your attic and seeing what they are worth,HD was giving me a love for the various bits that the public were dragging in to be scrutinized, such is the power of HD.

My friend now is reluctant to watch anything other than HD programming.

The pleasures of freesat HD

Since freesat launched back in june 2008, with its   free HD content its become quite a hit with people.

All along their  new TVs with the HD ready logo as been waiting expectantly in the corner of the living room, their  owners not impressed by sky asking for another tenner  a month, for the privelage of recieving their  HD service.

Bang, then  the BBC and ITV  came up with free HD  and its the must have service,so much so that there is currently a shortage of freesat boxes which includes the nice new humax PVR,much to the annoyance of sky.

Initially Freesat were not to keen on pointing out that freesat HD could be recieved through an existing sky dish, in otherwords ditch sky and plug in a freesat  unit instead, judging by the number of customers I have had doing the dump sky bit Mr murdoch is going to be quite upset.

If you don't like more boxes lurking under neath your telly, panasonic are the first to bring out televisions with freesat HD built  in,very nice indeed, I would'nt mind one myself.

Mrs ramsbottoms rubbish picture.

the roof

Mrs ramsbottom called me last week to tell me of her" silly picture" and how it keeps going off when shes watching her favourite programmes.
After a long conversation I arranged to go round this morning and take a look see.The house was up a very long drive, with a bewildering no of doors on which I could have knocked on,hmm big house with a lot of Aerial  problems  lurking inside.
All the tellies were nice and new with freeview  built in,all being fed with a poor signal, giving    mrs ramsbottoms coronation street  a complex edit with bursts of say up to 2 minutes with just a black screen.
For me  all of coronation street with a blank screen would be ideal, but we are all entitled to watch what we want.
The roof resembled a Tv aerial farm, that had some very good breeding stock easily upward of ten lurked on several chimneys, trying to trace all  those cables back was easily going to take forever, and the Aerials all looked ancient and beyond repair, different strategy needed, one aerial feeding each room through an amplifier far easier.
Monday morning will see battle commence.
